From the desk of Maurice Turmel PhD
Dear Friend,
My name is Maurice Turmel, AKA "Dr Moe", and I have a few questions for you:
Are YOU feeling overwhelmed by the experience of losing your mother, father, son, daughter, husband, wife or other significant loved one?
Are YOU feeling shock, confusion and depression as a result of this recent loss?
Are YOU wrestling with the emotional effects of divorce or a broken relationship?
Are YOU dealing with Complicated Grief related to a murder or suicide?
Are YOU looking for help to deal with your grief recovery process?
Are YOU ready to begin your recovery now?
I know how you feel. Dealing with the loss of a loved one is an inescapable reality of life. The subsequent grieving process affects all of us at some point in our lives. No one escapes the effects of losing a close loved one. As a result of my own personal losses I too have had to reach down inside and work through the emotional effects of losing someone I loved.
Years ago, many of the available approaches to Grief Recovery were not helpful, because few of them addressed the core issue of grief and bereavement which is our emotional woundedness. So many approaches were largely intellectual, with the therapist or author presenting the latest theories and identifying various stages in the grief recovery process without addressing the experience's feeling core.
Since death and loss are inevitable experiences in life, it is important to understand from the very beginning that you are not alone and that you are not being victimized in any way. When a loved one dies, or a significant relationship ends, we each have work to do if we want to get our life back on track in the quickest and healthiest way possible.
Now Picture the Following Scene . . .
It's a few weeks down the road from this moment. You're smiling! You're calm! You're starting to regain your old self again! Following the program outlined in "How to Cope with Grief and Loss" you've made significant headway in your grief recovery process. You can think about your loved one without breaking down. You know you will always care for them even as you are letting go of the pain. If this is a lost relationship, you can think about that person without animosity or the desire for revenge. The intensity of that initial grief reaction is fading. Keep that picture in your mind because that's where you will be within a few weeks of working this program.
"How do I cope with the experience of grief and loss" you might ask? We can accept that death and loss are a part of life, and we already know that simple phrases like "This is God's will", "Healing takes time", or "You must have faith" are insufficient to help us along. So what do we need as an approach that will guide us through this world of feeling and emotion.
If you appreciate the value of a good movie where the main character goes through a life changing experience and you can identify with her or him, then you'll appreciate this approach. If in the past you turned to poetry, music or storytelling as a way to get into your feelings and work through them, then you'll appreciate this approach. If you like listening to soothing narration, as if you were in the therapist's office receiving personal guidance for your grief recovery journey, then you'll appreciate this approach.
In the early 70s it took me 3 years to heal from my broken marriage. In the late 90s it took less than 6 months to heal from losing my mother, as a direct result of using these strategies. Feelings of animosity and the desire for revenge toward my first wife are long gone. Feelings of love for my mother remain in my heart. You too will be able to think of your losses and still smile. The love you have for your deceased loved one will stay with you forever.
How would you like to feel about your lost loved one?
This feeling based approach to grief recovery is the culmination of over 25 years of clinical practice that involved thousands of clients, hundreds of whom were dealing with Grief and Loss. This experience led to the creation of:
"How to Cope with Grief and Loss - Support, Guidance and Direction for Your Grief Recovery"

Making the best use of step by step instructions, storytelling, poetry, reflections and soothing music, this fully narrated Audio Ebook has already helped many and I know it can help YOU!
Here's what you need to know about me . . .
- I have a PhD in Counseling Psychology, and an M.A. and B.A. Honors in Psychology . Although the professional training helped me enormously, the in-depth learning occurred in the consulting room where I learned to listen and hear what grieving persons like yourself were saying. Their wounded heart needed healing. We followed their grief recovery journey until they felt they were done.
- Over the years, countless individuals, couples and families came to deal with grief and loss. Sometimes they came to deal with loss as a result of murder or family suicide. Sometimes they came to deal with childhood physical abuse, sexual abuse, the loss of a relationship, career burnout or a terminal diagnosis. All of these emotional wounds benefitted from this approach.
- My interviews, articles, podcast programs and healing music have been regularly featured by internet giants like Self-Growth.com, EzineArticles.com, HolisticJunction.com, Helium.com, ArticleBase.com, GoArticles.com, Alumbo.com, InspirationLine.com, LearnOutLoud.com and CDbaby.com, and have been published on thousands of websites. You can Google my name and see for yourself.
- I have also appeared on several radio and television talk shows to talk about coping with grief and loss and how to pursue grief recovery in a healthy and well-paced manner by addressing the experience's core feelings.
- Having a flair for poetry, storytelling, music creation and metaphor I have integrated this creative stance with the factual requirements of working through a grief recovery. Yes, step by step instructions are truly valuable but I have learned that grieving individuals appreciate poetry, music, reflections and storytelling as a way to access their inner feelings and then bring them out through my most recommended tool - JOURNALING!

I'm proud of my accomplishments. And, I want you to see that I have the experience, professional training and intimate understanding of grief recovery to help you achieve your healing in a safe manner and within a short period of time.
I also want you to see that I have playful approach to guiding individuals through their grief recovery experience. This is why I include my poetic flair, love of music and reliance on stories to illustrate important points. I respond well to a feeling-based approach and my internet research has shown me that many of you are looking for something more lively and touching than a simple listing of Stages.
One of the most frustrating things about losing a loved one or experiencing any loss for that matter, is to feel like you are not being heard. Unless you're with people who have suffered the same tragedy and appreciate where you're coming from, or, you're following a recovery program designed by someone who's been there both professionally and personally, you are not likely to feel understood.
- Take it from someone who knows the grief and loss experience from both the professional and personal point of view and who approaches it both creatively and strategically.
- Take it from someone who completed his PhD Internship in a Cancer hospital where death and dying were being confronted daily, and yet met numerous terminally ill individuals who were OK with dying and sharing their feelings about it.
- Take it from someone who has successfully guided numerous individuals, couples and families through the process of grief recovery for their emotional wounds using both a creative approach while providing the necessary strategic guidance.
- But don't just take it from me . . .

Amazing Book Helps You Understand Grief
Wow, this book is amazing. It gives you many ways to understand grief. A lot of what I read is happening to me. I thought I was alone but I am not. It helped me put some perspective on my own grief. I lost my husbnad to cancer, we were married 2 1/2 months shy of our 10th anniversary. The book explains how to let yourself grieve and is very interesting. Would reccomend to anyone who has just lost a loved one. Thanks for the great book.
Roxie Johnson - Lost her husband of 10 years to Cancer.
GETTING STARTED:
When I began my clinical practice in the early 80s, I had the usual psychology training that prepares one for private practice. After my internship year at the Cancer Hospital, I knew that textbooks and clinical training alone were not going to be enough. When someone is told they have 3 weeks to live, when their spouse and children are sleeping on the floor of their hospital room, when they look at you with pleading eyes, there's nowhere to go but straight to your own heart.
I learned from these people. They taught me how to be a heart-centered grief recovery therapist. That experience launched my professional career as a private practitioner, and later, as an author and speaker.
JOURNALING:
I discovered journaling at the time, something I've been doing ever since. Journaling, I found out, provides you with a safe way to express everything you are feeling. Over the years of teaching this process, I was able to help hundreds of grieving individuals through their bereavement process. "How to Cope with Grief and Loss" invites you to start journaling and shows you how to make full and beneficial use of this process through your grief recovery journey and beyond.
"Remember When" (excerpt from "How to Cope with Grief and Loss")
Remember when you were young / Oh what sadness did to you then / Took you all apart, didn't it? / That was the way it was back then.
Yes, sadness takes you out of your self / Into a world where other creatures dwell / Like anger, hurt or despair.
These are feelings too, often associated with loss / You can see them as companions to this primary feeling.
Your task here is to let them be / Feelings need to flow / And they will flow right through you.
Try it now that you are sad / Try it and see what happens / It will pass, all of these other feelings did ? So will this one, just let it flow.
There will be truth for you later / But first there must be sadness.

Life's Plan (excerpt)
You know you shouldn't overlook the possibility that life is planned in just such a way as to cause you grievance when you least expect it. It happens often that, at the worst possible moment, another loss occurs, one you hadn't anticipated or prepared for.
This is a miracle sometimes, a true test of our strength. Oh yes, most of us would have preferred to read the book, but then life's lessons are a book, aren't they? One that we open to a new page every day to see what troubles or delights will be ours this time.
Share your losses. They are real. Tell someone you hurt. There's no shame. The shame is only in keeping all that pain to yourself. You can't heal that way. Let it out! Find a way and let it out! And the next time your world collides with itself, you'll be ready.
